If your Windows installation is frozen at a specific percentage, such as 0%, 64%, or 100%, it may feel like the process is broken — but in most cases, it’s either a fixable glitch or a temporary delay.
Common CausesIncomplete or damaged installation media (USB or ISO)
Conflicts with external hardware (USB hubs, printers, etc.)
Faulty RAM or disk errors
The system is actually working in the background (especially at 100%)
Outdated BIOS or Secure Boot/TPM misconfiguration
How to Fix ItSometimes the installer appears stuck, but Windows is working in the background (especially applying drivers or updates). If you're stuck at 100%, wait at least 30–45 minutes before assuming it's frozen.
Unplug:
External hard drives
Printers
USB hubs or wireless receivers
Then restart the install process.
If you haven’t already:
Use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool:
Windows 10
Windows 11
Use a different USB drive if possible
Connect via a USB 2.0 port, not USB 3.0
On older systems, outdated BIOS or incompatible Secure Boot/TPM settings can cause freezes. Check the manufacturer’s site for updates or reset BIOS settings to default.
